Phone light flashin before the city wake
Same voice, same panic, same mistake
Says walls closin in but the door ain’t locked
Just habits doing laps round the same old block
He talk dates, programs, people got faith
But freedom don’t come with a release date
Mind still pacing like the count just rang
Keys jingle in the thought but he love the clang
Everybody got a plan when the tier go quiet
Till the mirror start talkin and the ego riot
He say growth, I hear hunger for witnesses
Change ain’t real if it need a chorus to exist
I been in smaller rooms with louder truths
Where excuses get heavy and denial get loose
Learned quick some bars invisible
Sentence self-written, repeatable
He say love keep him straight, I say pressure test
When applause leave early, what’s left?
Some men need crowds to feel they alive
Some men sit still and let the lie die
So I don’t play guard, don’t argue the bid
I just note how the locks still answer the kid
If the cell come with you when the gates unlock
You still doin time on a different block
Phone go dark, sunrise hit the glass
Some warnings ain’t threats, just math
I change routes, let the echo fade
Freedom quiet, never needed to be said
