{"id":2202,"date":"2013-11-07T02:55:29","date_gmt":"2013-11-07T07:55:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/?p=2202"},"modified":"2013-11-07T02:55:29","modified_gmt":"2013-11-07T07:55:29","slug":"working-this-thing-into-shape","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/2013\/11\/07\/working-this-thing-into-shape\/","title":{"rendered":"Working This Thing Into Shape"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve spent (and I&#8217;m quite spent) the last dozen hours or so working on this website. \u00a0Sure I had real work and other things to do but as it often does I consume myself with the smallest details\u00a0<em>working this thing into shape. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>It isn&#8217;t just the website though.<\/h3>\n<p>If I&#8217;m honest it&#8217;s really the cumulative thought processes articulated into a format that I feel reflects my personality. \u00a0Every color and pattern, gradient and reflection, lines of symmetry shaping the layout of my thoughts in writing.<br \/>\nTonight \/ yesterday (lol) when I started it was to simply organize some of the content and take a step toward even more full disclosure with the public release of previously held private content. \u00a0Things that I wrote last year when I started the website but made private or drafted but never published all taken live or taken down.<br \/>\nReading through some of the older stuff pre May, 2013 I was a little surprised at the ridiculous and even absurd way I approached the subjects I wrote of. \u00a0I made a few minor revisions but decided to just show all the cards. \u00a0Well, not all the cards but as many as have been typed up in this medium.<br \/>\n<strong>Anyway, I also deleted obsolete or redundant categories and empty drafts. \u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<code>And the tech rant: I customized the header to reflect category descriptions on category archive pages where previously they only displayed on the category's single posts. \u00a0The header meta was arranged so it reads better: author, date, category. \u00a0The left sidebar categories list was dropped and replaced with a custom menu reflecting categories in the order I prefer. \u00a0A new left sidebar \"box\" was added and reflect custom content dependent on active page, home page has message and localised time stamp in javascript, single posts have time stamp in php that displays date \/ time based on how long ago it was published, anything published prior to 05\/29\/2013 has a condition to display a link to a \"disclaimer\" page explaining in detail why content from before this date is\u00a0<em>different<\/em> and how I've\u00a0<em>changed.\u00a0<\/em> Archive \/ index page content boxes have similar time stamp in php reflecting how long ago posts were published. \u00a0New footer content reflecting author gravatar and description. \u00a0Post pagination got a makeover and customized so prev \/ next posts are relative to current post category and heading for this area is relative to post category. \u00a0 Pages were given footer area minus facebook commenting and pagination.<\/code><br \/>\n<strong>The photo of my baby boy playing with sparklers was taken by yours truly last September.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve spent (and I&#8217;m quite spent) the last dozen hours or so working on this website. \u00a0Sure I had real work and other things to do but as it often does I consume myself with the smallest details\u00a0working this thing into shape. \u00a0 It isn&#8217;t just the website though.
