{"id":2143,"date":"2013-11-06T01:53:23","date_gmt":"2013-11-06T05:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/?p=2143"},"modified":"2013-11-06T01:53:23","modified_gmt":"2013-11-06T05:53:23","slug":"when-i-woke-up-this-morning","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/2013\/11\/06\/when-i-woke-up-this-morning\/","title":{"rendered":"When I Woke Up This Morning"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>I try to start and finish every day on this idea of prayer.<\/h3>\n<p>When I wake up and ask to be guided, not by my own will, but to help others and make a change with my attitude and input, the day goes incredibly well. \u00a0At night when I try to shut it down, I reflect on the day I just made it through and count my blessings, consider my aspirations, embrace my hopes and ask myself if I lived the day for myself, or for something bigger. \u00a0Was I selfish, self-seeking, self centered, or did I consider others before myself, look for an opportunity to help someone or even just hold a door for an unsuspecting stranger.<br \/>\n<strong>I stumbled on this graphic (Facebook) and it struck a cord with me. \u00a0I wanted to share but my words were too many for a simple post to my Facebook wall. \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter  wp-image-2144\" alt=\"1381432_676920288986043_377287135_n\" src=\"http:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3\/2013\/11\/1381432_676920288986043_377287135_n.jpg\" width=\"512\" height=\"512\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/11\/1381432_676920288986043_377287135_n.jpg 640w, https:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/11\/1381432_676920288986043_377287135_n-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/jarodthornton.com\/bemis3lf\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2013\/11\/1381432_676920288986043_377287135_n-300x300.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 512px) 100vw, 512px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>For several years I tried my way and ended up alone, drowning in self pity and selfish ambition that didn&#8217;t amount to anything worth living for. \u00a0Somehow I found that place where my knees connect to the floor at the foot of my bed one night. \u00a0The same thing happened the next day. \u00a0I started this reprieve that has put me at peace, even while still in the turmoil and havoc I brought on myself. \u00a0It worked. \u00a0So I keep at it one day at a time focusing on the next 24 hours without worry of thereafter.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I try to start and finish every day on this idea of prayer.
