Free to fly, to take the road
To make the pavement, to buck the goad
See the rivers rush, but move with peace
Listen to the woods groan and creak
Touch the dirt, feel the life implied
Smell the flowers and they smell so nice
I am free to fly, I am free to take the road
I was created to soar, wings and winds wove
This blacktop rolls out before me long and solid
I can take it and fly these highways however I call it
So I bring to your attention
A broken heart condition
One afore mentioned
One I have petitioned
But it\’s been of no use
My sobs of heartache silent
The angles quite obtuse
A heart lonely and frightened
I find comfort in my loosing yours truly
Perhaps all the reason to reread through these
Because with every new pen stroke I am further gone
But nearer to the place and person and God I belong
I\’ve never been more homesick than now
Humbly fixed and laying my life down
Amen
