Increase your rankings in Google, build your business reputation, and showcase your expertise by generating local reviews.

For those that don’t already know, as a business owner, you can publicly display local reviews from customers online. You may be wondering: why should you do this? Well, the answer is pretty straightforward.

Showcasing local reviews allows you to build trust with new customers, enables you to improve your ranking in Google, and finally, allows you to showcase that you’re great at what you do, whether that’s baking cakes, selling fresh lemonade, or providing expert dental services.

So, in this blog post, I will discuss how to get more local reviews for your business website and on the homepage of Google.

Ask for local reviews!

Often, many businesses overthink the best method of getting reviews for their business. However, one of the best methods is simply to ask. Boring, I know.

You can do this in-person if you know the customer had a great experience (e.g., if they complimented your product or service), or as a follow-up – but more on this shortly.

As not everyone is a tech wizard (contrary to popular belief), you can also have paper forms to fill in reviews, later writing these up online with their permission to showcase on your website.

Collect email addresses and follow-up

It has become common practice for local businesses to ask for email addresses in-store and online when making a purchase. This is useful for numerous reasons. Firstly, collecting an email address allows you to send new products, offers, and relevant content directly to their inbox.

Also, however, you can follow up with each customer to ask about their experience and if they mind leaving a review. This method may be a little more time-consuming, but there are automated methods available – allowing you to generate new local reviews with ease.

Make the review process as simple as possible

Finally, it’s no secret that we all live busy lives. Therefore, it’s essential to make the review process as simple as possible.

For example, if you’re sending a form via email, send a link directly to leave a review and cut out the filler. Making the process as simple as possible removes any distractions for your audience, increasing the number and quality of reviews that you receive.
